Foxtel launched its next reality series, The Recruit, at Etihad Stadium last night.
The show, hosted by Ryan ‘Fitzy’ Fitzgerald, will see 12 young Aussie Rules players vying for an official AFL contract.
In attendance were Fitzy, coach Michael Voss, mentor Ben Dixon, fitness guru Darren Burgess, psychology coach Leigh Russell, a selection of Top 50 finalists, Foxtel Exec. Director of Television Brian Walsh and AFL CEO Gillon McLachlan.
McLachlan had guests chuckling over his hopes for the show, which saw the AFL change its legislation to draft the show’s winner.
“It really does do a serious job of showcasing our game and Melbourne, and I certainly hope it does a better job of representing Melbourne than the women in The Real Housewives of Melbourne,” he suggested.
“Some of these fellas do a better job than those girls did.
“But the investment the quality of the production that has gone into the production is first class.
“We couldn’t be happier with our partnership.”
The show, which will pitch itself to a broad audience, premieres Wednesday, July 16, at 7.30pm on FOX8 with replays on FOX Footy.

David you haven’t mentioned what channel it’s on, only that replays are on Fox Footy. I’m assuming it’s Fox 8?
