Under the Dome wants 3-5 seasons

Fans of Under the Dome better bunker down for the long haul.
If Producers have their way, the show will be around for 3 – 5 seasons – and an ending that leaves the door open to yet another run.
“We have a lot of stories left to tell and we can tell them in cool ways,” showrunner Neal Baer told fans at Comic-Con.
That’s despite earlier expectations, at least by observers, that the summer series would have a limited run. But after a hit premiere season, it plotted a much longer arc.
Despite its projections, Baer is promising big answers for the current season — but they will come at a cost.
“We have kept the body count down a bit at the beginning of the season so we can rev it up at the end,” he told fans.
At least Lost kept rating while it dragged its answers out, as well as turning TV conventions on their head. I’m not sure Dome is anywhere near as progressive.
In the US the show has declined this season and while it did very well in Australia for TEN in 2013, it has also struggled locally this year, moving to a later timeslot from next week.
A third season is yet to be announced.

Thanks for the update. I’ll be deleting the 3 shows already recorded. Not getting caught up in something like this for another 3 years.
Arguably the most poorly plotted, written and acted show out of the US since the turn of the millennium-I believe it will be cancelled mid season as the ratings numbers plunge in the US (and locally). ‘Sharknado’ for those who wish to waste 13 hours instead of 2.
Timmydownawell, like you I’ll go along for the ride, but I thought that about Lost, until I just couldn’t bare it anymore, to this day I don’t know how it ended, but it dragged out to long. There is nothing wrong with swift miniseries, not everything can run for 7 years. Revenge should have already wrapped, but, it’s coming our way again. Let’s hope Conrad turns out to be Emily’s real father, just to make it more believe able !
Haha it’s bad, but it’s good. I’m happy to go along for the ride. But I’m easily pleased.
I also only lasted 2½ eps of S1 so… 3-5 seasons – whaaat?
As I said in the prev article – the writing has been cheesy and the acting hammy. All it was missing was the pineapple.
One season was more than enough, thanks. What a rip-off that they didn’t wrap it up properly.
Struggled to get through 2 1/2 eps of Season 1 then gave up.
Found it tedious and the acting was atrocious.
With the obvious drop off in viewer numbers for Season 2, who will still be watching by Season 5
Two old guys and a dog?
And I want a pony. Doesn’t mean I deserve one…
At The Simpsons wrapped it up in under two hours, not dragging the crazy plot on
They lost Mrs Prawn and I once it became clear that there was to be no resolution at the end of the first season, and that the story was going to be dragged out (introducing new characters that never even been mentioned before also required some suspension of belief).
I suspect that in years to come people are going to be talking of shows that outstay their welcome as doing an ‘under the dome’.
I mananged 1 and half episodes of s1. Waste of time
Well I for one am excited to see future seasons of this. I’m actually liking this season so far and am looking forward to how it all turns out!
I could only manage about 3 episodes of season 1 ……. and nothing much happened!
If they are going to continue on for another season, please kill of some of the bad acting characters…. Please!
I’d say going for a second season was a mistake.
Considering it was only originally meant to be one season, and also considering that it’s an awful show, I don’t know if they should be making such an optimistic plan.
Five seasons? I’m struggling enough at the moment with it… It just all seems to be going nowhere.
Maybe I should just wikipedia the plot outline from the book!
