Yes, well spotted. It’s hardly inspired programming but it’s important not to misread its value. For what it costs and what it delivers day in, day out is the reason it is still there.

  2. maxxdude July 17, 2014 at 9:16 pm -

If TBBT is doing so badly for Nine why are they still managing to make the Top 5 in all the demos?

  3. jshaw July 17, 2014 at 4:17 pm -

Well done TEN for Masterchef & Offspring. Channel 9 will continue third place if it keeps showing repeats of The Big Bang Theory.

  4. ryan1890 July 17, 2014 at 3:33 pm -

Would I be able to find out what Head First got on ABC1 at 8.30pm? Also how is Family Feud performing in demos vs. 7 and 9 news?

  5. Angela July 17, 2014 at 12:43 pm -

Wednesday nights are a televison wasteland at the moment as far as I’m concerned.
    Nothing at all worth watching.
( Yes, by all accounts Offspring is a quality show but never wached it from the beginning for some reason and too late to start now.)

Really missing the ABC’s comedy lineup on a Wednesday night ,featuring shows like Mad As Hell, “The Agony Of ” series, Spicks and Specks etc.

  6. oztvheritage July 17, 2014 at 12:35 pm -

There has not been smiles this big in the Ten offices around Australia in quite a while……I would imagine.

  7. Kushaa July 17, 2014 at 11:34 am -

Agree with Secret Squirrel. We can’t really blame Nine for those TBBT repeats when it is doing relatively well in the demos. Cheap imports with maximum $$. It is a gold pot.

  8. WolfieBoy July 17, 2014 at 11:24 am -

@FKlein – spot on comment. Treat your viewers that way dishing up endless repeats and you end up losing eventually.
Offspring finally getting the viewer numbers it deserves. Top scripted and acted Aussie drama.
M/Chef was always going to get an extra boost with Heston Blumenthal and well deserved because they have listened and made the show good again.
Ten no. 2 makes me elated – well done :-)
Not home last night so recorded all on TEN and Tour de France.

  9. Secret Squirrel July 17, 2014 at 11:23 am -

Nine won’t be too unhappy with the numbers that count. Third and fourth in the major demos with cheap repeats. Don’t expect TBBT to disappear any time soon.

  10. Shoudy Chen July 17, 2014 at 10:08 am -

Channel Nine slipped to third last night.
Meanwhile Masterchef is improving for Channel Ten.

  11. catherine July 17, 2014 at 10:03 am -

well 10 was on in my house last night from 7:30 onwards. Another great episode of masterchef, nice episode of offspring and I loved the good wife finale.

memo to 9. People are over the bbt repeats

  12. jvanzoe July 17, 2014 at 10:03 am -

Well done 10 for beating 9. I hope it continues that way :)

  13. JoeS July 17, 2014 at 10:00 am -

Wowieeee!! Well done 10, at long last some good television actually gets the ratings. On that, I do think this year of MC is one of the best ever, the ‘cooks’ absolutely amazing and the judges back to their old self.

Also happy Offspring got decent numbers.

  14. Aussiecam58 July 17, 2014 at 9:54 am -

Masterchef has returned to their old formula and it is paying off. Lesson to be learnt, dont mess with a winning formula. If they are thinking of Looser coming back l say to the producers go back to series 1 and ten go back to 7pm start time.

Whilst l am no fan of Grant Denyer good to see Family Feud getting a following. Not a fan of it been shown over three networks though. This is an insult to the viewing public.

  15. nik c July 17, 2014 at 9:53 am -

Congrats For Channel 10. I don;t watch MC, but glad the end of season is picking up viewers.
Also glad Offspring is rating well.
Hope season 6 gets the green light soon.

  16. FKlein July 17, 2014 at 9:36 am -

Well done Channel Ten. I probably should not type the words I said when I saw that Ten came 2nd.
Nine this is what happens when you only show TBBT repeats between 7:30-8:30.

  17. Nicholas July 17, 2014 at 9:26 am -

Channel Ten smashed it last night… huge numbers for Masterchef and Offspring! Beating Channel Nine to claim 2nd overall for the night is the best Channel Ten has done for two years or more! Well done Channel Ten, you are finally making the comeback you deserve!
