Adam Boland book set to spill on Morning TV saga

Video: Not really sure what to make of all this.....

Not really sure what to make of all this.

So I will let the clip do the talking and you tell me….

  1. Miss Jackson.. With my level of interest in Aùstralian TV, I will most likely read this book.

I was merely commenting on the promo.. As David requested.

  2. I understand where you’re coming from but if we look at his career (two decades in television, more than half of that at Seven/Sunrise), it might provide more context. This clip and a blurb on the publisher’s website do not a marketing campaign make.

People need to read the book and make up their minds then, not take cheap shots at a two-minute promo.

  3. He will dish absolutely nothing. He will play it totally safe – nobody will get upset by the book. He will also downplay his role in the series of breathtakingly stupid decisions involved in making the “Wake Up” program. I thought he was having a break from TV!

  4. michaelOz, of course, being an SME on publishing. Did it ever occur to you that MUP do not have the budgets of Pan Macmillan or HarperCollins and ask their authors to assist in their own promo?

I think everyone needs to stop believing the “entrainment/gossip writers” who are using a couple of buzzwords (like “tell-all” and “scandals”) to sensationalise a book they haven’t even read.

Honest to God, give the man a break and let the writing speak for itself.

    1. Miss Jackson: A few weeks ago I avoided filing on those very stories, presuming Sunrise would be part of a wider book about Adam’s experiences. Having seen the title and the promo I am more concerned about the balance and the way it’s being marketed. I guess readers here are responding to the video as posted by publishers. There hasn’t been any talk of scandals in stories here. It’s the video that is telling us it will tell all…

  5. I think Adam is suffering “attention deficit disorder” – i.e. he’s not getting enough of it… and if he thinks I’m interested in his feud with Lady Ga Ga then I think he has well and truly jumped the shark.
Lots of people produce lots of television without having to put themselves out there like the alleged stars in front of the cameras.
And for Channel Ten execs to slavishly spend millions on his whim to broadcast from Queenscliff – well lucky he didn’t want to broadcast from Mars because they probably would have launched rockets for him as well. Really …

  6. I think it’s time to move on . . . Adam seems to be clinging onto the public spotlight, yet this seemed to be the part of the cause of his mental issues. And the clip seems to portray his book as the highlights and lowlights of Sunrise; not that fascinating!

  7. haha,First thoughts it seemed like a spoof video, why would people care, its breakfast television, and what’s with the serious tone. I assume it will appeal to the type of people that actually like Mel and Kochie.

  8. Seems very Sunrise centric, especially the name – ‘Brekky Central’. Could be interesting reading, but I’m only really interested in hearing about where he thinks Wake Up went wrong.

  9. This video cracked me up, it was like a total send up of some self indulgent person trying to promote how good they and their product are. If “Frontlines'” ‘Mike Moore’ was to advertise his own book, this is exactly how I would imagine it.

  10. errrg… seriously if anyone has watched NBC’s Today show (which use to air just before Sunrise started, coincidence?) would know that 50% of Sunrises success is from a “borrowed” format and the other 50% is due to David Kosh (taking over from Chris Reason due to his cancer scare.) Adam Boland may have been a good producer day to day but he did nothing new or interesting. He just rode the coat tails of other people and formats and claimed them for himself. He’s not the first producer to have a nervous breakdown due to being overworked in the industry nor will he be the last, he just seems to be the nosiest about it.

  11. Seems one can make a name for themselves as an ‘ex-morning show producer’

After seeing the complete lack of common sense in so many of the daily decision during Wake Up, the question has to be asked; was sunrise just a fluke? Or was it the rest of the crew that made it a success?

But good to see him acknowledge his ‘high profile failure’. On his australian story episode he only lightly referred to its underperformance while giggling, which I thought was a huge slap in the face to the people who’s career were so damaged after they put their trust in him.

  12. This is simply an out of control ego desperately trying to remain relevant in the industry. Let’s face it, he has only ever produced breakfast shows, one hit and one flop, he has not even produced a prime time series. I know he has mental issues, having a nervous breakdown is certainly not a joke but wow he has now become totally deluded!

  13. The promo doesn’t sound too bad. He seems very positive about Mel and Kochie and most folk can work out that there will be plenty of internal company politics within a flagship morning tv show. I was hoping for a more scandal driven expose, may be bringing to light some previously unheard of affairs…..y’know something a little more salacious….we’ll see eh?

  14. Brilliant man, exceptional talent, another one of televisions casualties.
Good on him for having the intestinal fortitude to do a you tube clip to publicise his book. I guarantee that the TV bosses will not like what he has to say, but as far as I can remember and from what i hear from friends still in the game it has not changed, except maybe get worse.

  15. Wonder if he will be interviewed on Sunrise? Or Today? Or Studio 10?

Still trying to work out if he is writing a love letter to Sunrise or doing a hatchet job.
