Debra Byrne turns to social media in plea for witnesses

Debra Byrne has made a Facebook post asking for witnesses to an alleged abuse incident

2014-08-04_1322Entertainer Debra Byrne has made a Facebook post asking for witnesses to an alleged abuse incident while filming a commercial while she was part of the Young Talent Time cast.

Byrne, who has previously detailed sexual abuse in her biography Not Quite Ripe, is asking for witnesses to an alleged incident to come forward.

“I was a very disturbed girl and was abused, I believe, because I was considered fair game,” she wrote on Facebook.

“After a day’s filming we the YTT and crew were swimming in a pool.

“I don’t recall where the pool was but while I was in the pool, [deleted] swam up to me and digitally raped me.”

“There were more than two people in the studio. If this jogs anyone’s memory and you are comfortable to speak with me about what took place in the studio please contact me.

“Blessings Debra Byrne x”.

Byrne has previously told ABC Radio about further abuse during her childhood.

“My grandfather had been sexually abusing me since as early as I can remember,” she said.

“It’s quite common for a pedophile to abuse a baby… No age is too young, it’s very complex. It’s not that you hate it…you don’t actually understand it – you don’t really have an opinion of it and that’s exactly what you’re meant to have – no opinion of it – because this is out of your control…and you’re also in the hands of the man that is your grandpa , and you love him, and he loves you… it’s confusing.”

Byrne has recently appeared in a YouTube clip for children’s book Some Secrets Should Never Be Kept.
