Full House ripe for revival

Warner Bros. Television is considering a revival of Full House, with some of the original stars involved.

2014-08-27_1551Warner Bros. Television is considering a revival of Full House, with some of the original stars involved, according to US reports.

TV Guide reports John Stamos (Uncle Jesse), who has an ownership stake in the show, original executive producer Bob Boyett and creator Jeff Franklin are actively involved in early talks. Former cast members Candace Cameron Bure (D.J.), Jodie Sweetin (Stephanie) and Andrea Barber (Kimmy) are on board, while Bob Saget (Danny) and Dave Coulier (Joey) are also involved “in some way.” Franklin is writing the new version.

There’s no word on whether twins Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen are on board.

The sitcom aired in the US from 1987 to 1995 and still does well in Nick at Nite repeats.

Stamos recently said that he was “working on a twist on a sequel,” but noted that it was unclear at the time if it would come to pass. Last year, Stamos also reunited his fictional Full House band, Uncle Jesse & the Rippers, to play a medley of their hits and they also reunited for a Super Bowl commercial.

More recently US sitcom Boy Meets World, was recently revived on Disney Channel as Girl Meets World.

But a reboot of Full House could be cause to pop the champagne, just not anywhere near TV interviews.

When Stamos was in Australia in 2007 he appeared “jet-lagged” when chatting to Kerri-Anne Kennerley. In 2009 he later told a magazine, “When I went on that morning show, I was drunk. Yes, I was on sleeping pills and I was jet-lagged, but I was also just plastered. And I never said I wasn’t, but that whole Warner Bros. publicity machine got involved and said, “Just say he was jet-lagged.” I said, “No, tell ’em the truth! I was f***ing drunk in Australia. Big deal.”

  1. I’m not ashamed to admit that I really hope this gets off the ground. I’ve been greatly enjoying watching the eps again on 111. And this also reminds me just how much I miss having Nick at Nite – I used to love that channel!!
