Here is the foggy News. Do not adjust your set.
At first it looked like a Nine News backdrop had failed -but no, it was a bad case of Melbourne fog.

It’s been unkindly referred to as ‘Bleak City’ in the past but last night Melbourne ‘s skyline on Nine News was a dead dull grey when an early evening fog rolled in front of cameras overlooking the city.
Presenter Peter Hitchener appeared to be seated in front of a dud monitor.
Nine News tweeted: Please don’t adjust your television settings, that’s heavy fog blanketing Melbourne behind phitchener9
By the time the bulletin ended -just- it had lifted enough for the skyline to magically reappear.
Update: It was a similar story on Seven News.
