Offspring talks still proceeding

Media reports suggest Offspring has been renewed for 2015.

2014-03-31_0143There are media reports that suggest Offspring has been renewed for 2015.

Today’s Australian claims, “Diary can reveal Ten has exercised an option for a sixth season of the network’s most successful drama since its premiere four years ago. Some of the actors want to pursue other opportunities but all things being equal, Offspring will return.”

Recently Mamma Mia even “confirmed that Offspring will be back in 2015.”

There’s clearly a lot of love in the room for the show, but confirmation of S6 is a tad premature.

Today Beverley McGarvey, TEN’s Chief Programming Officer, told TV Tonight: “We want Offspring to return in 2015. We are in discussions with the producers and they are, in turn, in discussions with the key creatives and cast.”

As John Edwards recently noted, there are still a few hurdles to clear.

Meanwhile Asher Keddie fans will still see her on screen this year in TEN’s upcoming Party Tricks, also from Offspring‘s John Edwards and Imogen Banks.

Corrected.

  1. Suspect if they really love the show they should leave the viewers wanting more, not give them more and leaving them wishing they’d called it a day earlier.

  2. The Mumma mia story is from July 11 and they haven’t corrected it. It’s been wrong for a long time. TVtonight is one of the few places who have accurately reported the story.

I think a spin off set a couple of years later might be the best way to do it. Especially if that means it’s a new series for tax purposed.
