Renewed: Switched at Birth. Axed: Twisted

ABC Family network renews one drama but ends another.

2014-08-14_1216The Disney-owned ABC Family network has renewed drama series Switched at Birth but axed Twisted at the same time.

Switched at Birth, which centres on two teenage girls who discover they were accidentally switched as babies in hospital, will return for a fourth season.

“Fans will be clamoring for season four and to know what happens with Daphne and Bay after the season three finale next week,” said Tom Ascheim, president of ABC Family.

However Twisted, which stars Avan Jogia as a 16-year-old charged with killing his aunt when he was younger, is ending with one season.

When Twisted‘s finale aired in April, showrunner Chuck Pratt Jr. told TVLine that there were “more amazing stories to come” and that he was optimistic about the show’s future: “It’s totally up to ABC Family to say ‘Do a cliffhanger’ or ‘Don’t do a cliffhanger.’ Nobody told us to put on the breaks, or wrap it up, so there’s always a chance we’ll come back.”

Both shows air in Australia on Foxtel.
