Returning: Big Brother

Big Brother is back in early September, and may have to pair with The Block for a double Reality dose.

Sonia BBBig Brother returns to Australian screens on Monday September 8th -but a timeslot has not been revealed. The Block: Glasshouse is tipped to hold auctions in October meaning Big Brother could be looking at a later timeslot this season, in a Reality double-dose.

“Eye of the Storm” promos for the new season hint at two of each type of housemate entering the renovated house, where ‘all is not what it seems.’

Promising ‘a fully digital and integrated platform’ Big Brother said: “The Housemates have no idea what I have in store for them this year, but Big Brother can tell you that a storm is coming and the new Housemates should be prepared to line up and get on board.

“Australia, this year it is power to the people. Your first chance to control what happens in my House starts before night one. You decide more than just who stays and who goes.”

“This is without a doubt going to be the most exciting series we’ve ever seen. From night one, Housemates will have to make immediate judgments which will have far reaching consequences into their Big Brother experience,” said Kruger.

“In this day and age, with the prevalence of social media, people are forced to make snap judgments on other people based on tiny bits of information. Our Housemates are going to have to make quick decisions based on first impressions.

“I also hear our 2014 Housemates are the most opinionated and most controversial ever, and buttons will be pushed.”

The series is expected to drive Nine’s final three months of the ratings year.

  1. Looking forward to it, normality seems restored when BB is on tv and it still seems fresh and entertaining after 10 seasons. I would rather ten still had it but 9 are doing far better than I could ever have imagined.

  2. @davodavo6666 agreed, last year they promised it would be exciting with twists & turns but it really wasn’t. For starters the housemates were all boring even though the promos made it look like there were going to be a diverse range of people.

  3. Agree with some of the sentiments here about scheduling…someone at 9 needs to be shown how to use a yearly planner. Seems like a pretty basic timing mistake has been made here (and one that plenty of people on this site have seen coming for a while).

  4. Here’s hoping the later timeslot might mean some more serious content.

I think its silly to have two reality shows airing at the same time, and I’m not sure viewers will want to commit to two shows at once. Nine had plenty of empty holes in the schedule while The Voice was on, so it would have made more sense to launch one of the two shows earlier in the year.

  5. Looking forward to this!
I love Mike Goldman but hoping Tim is involved somewhere along the line.
I wish they would ditch A Current Affair for the duration (surely it needs a holiday!) and start The Block at 6.30pm.
    Anyway it’s all good!

  6. The best part of BB was Mikey Goldman’s Uplate, way back when it was on 10.
    Hilarious.
He was perfect as the host… but sadly sort of faded into the woodwork when BB went over to 9.

  7. @Sairy.James The BehindBB website post says Sonia will host Monday Night Live, and the length of the show will vary week to week, the longest scheduled at current being 2 hours.

@Loz Doesn’t sound like the old Friday Night Live with games, just sounds like discussion and possible live house content

  8. If Big Brother does not have fixed, regular starting times and I’m forced to endure constant overruns of The Block, I’m out. You’re on notice, Nine

  9. What is with Nine and dumping so much reality in the second half of this year.

Somebody needs to go and buy one of those big wall calendars, then sit down and figure out where everything fits for 2015!

  10. What is to stop Nine running Big Brother on Go! now that analogue has been switched off?
Thought Big Brother was more a Go! type program anyway? Then Nine could run both The Block and Big Brother at the same time as they mostly attract different audiences.

  11. According to Behind BB, evictions will be on Tuesdays and there will be a new show called Monday Night Live airing for up to 2 hours, both at 8:30pm after The Block. It will also be the shortest BB season ever, finishing in the last week of ratings.

  12. I don’t trust them, it will be a small twist upfront, maybe one person never gets to the actual house etc. then it will be back to normal with two sets of intruders. If its on later at night that is all the change it needs.
