Best wishes to veteran entertainer Stuart Wagstaff, 89, who is in Castlecrag Private Hospital battling a lung condition.
News Corp reports his friend newsreader John Mangos thanked Russell Crowe and Steve Bastoni for visiting him and described the stay as a “precaution.”
A young Crowe performed in The Rocky Horror Show in which the erudite Wagstaff was a perfect Narrator.
Wagstaff is most fondly remembered by TV audiences for his residency on Blankety Blanks, alongside Ugly Dave Gray, Noeline Brown and Graham Kennedy.
He was also the face of Benson & Hedges cigarette commercials.
Entertainment commentator Peter Ford said this week, “those Benson and Hedges ads were very profitable for him if, with hindsight, perhaps regrettable”.

And I also send my best wishes for Stuarts recovery….just the nicest man.
I echo your sentiments, David wishing Stuart better to a recovery. He is much loved and respected in this industry. I used to love his Stuart Wagstaff”s Playhouse on Channel 2 and of course his debonair double entendres with Gra Gra on Blankety Blanks.
Get well soon, Mr Wagstaff!
