Will Arnett: “We are going to do more Arrested Development”

The Bluth family will all go back before the cameras -subject to comic timing.

2014-08-08_1151Actor Will Arnett has confirmed that the cast of Arrested Development will all return for a new season.

It follows Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandos hinting at a new season earlier this week, revealing that it was down to “a matter of when” the cast can reconvene.

Arnett has since told NBC’s Today that the cast are all on board.

“We are going to do more Arrested Development,” he said.

“Ted Sarandos and Netflix kind of let the cat out of the bag on that one. It’s something we all want to do so we’re excited.”

Netflix revived the series in 2013, more than seven years after it had been cancelled, which aired in Australia on the Comedy Channel.

Last year Sarandos said there was “no question” there would be more Arrested Development on Netflix, either as a new series of episodes or a movie.

  1. Have not seen S4 yet but on my list of things to watch, even mediocre Arrested Development is a hundred times better than a lot of stuff on FTA TV at the moment.

  2. It wasn’t just different it was a completely different show. The original was an ensemble piece with rapid fire gags and sublots that intertwined and were knitted together by the voice over.

S4 was a slow moving observational comedy where the voiceover just repeated what happened. It featuring only one or two characters an episode because they couldn’t afford or organise signing everybody for shooting a season.

Not much point in things coming to together at the end if few people even make it through the first episodes because they are so bad and unfunny.

  3. I personally loved the new Arrested Developement. Took a few episodes to get into the flow, but the more I watched, the more I liked it. It’s also something that definitely benefits from a rewatch to get more out of the earlier episodes.

It’s a shame so many people dismissed it for being different and never got the way through it to see it all come together brilliantly.
