Jenna Coleman coy on Doctor Who exit

"We’ve all decided we don’t want anyone to know which way it’s going," says Jenna Coleman.

2014-09-11_0014Jenna Coleman has declined to confirm or deny if she is leaving Doctor Who.

“There’s lots of rumours,” she told Radio Times.

“We’ve sat down with [showrunner] Steven Moffat and we’ve all decided we don’t want anyone to know which way it’s going.”

“If you know I’m in the next series – or if you know I’m off – you’ll know how the story ends.”

But Coleman did hint at big things in store.

“Because there’s a surprise we’ve got coming, it’s much better that nobody knows which way it’s going to go – so that’s where we’re trying to keep it at the moment.”

Peter Capaldi recently commented on speculation of her exit last month saying, “I don’t know where these rumours have started.

“I’ve read that she may be leaving at Christmas but I don’t even know if she’ll get to Christmas… You’ve got to just watch and wait and see.”

Coleman first appeared as Clara Oswald in 2013.

  1. I find Clara much more interesting with Capaldi, all that Impossible Girl stuff got too confusing. Would not be surprised if she did leave, but I do like her. I want them to bring back Psi (from Time Heist) as a regular companion, he was brilliant, we need a male!

  2. Been a while since the Doctor’s had a male companion (Rory doesn’t really count as he was an add on to Amy P)-would be a good antidote to the constant sexual tension of the last few years.

  3. I hope she doesn’t go at the end of the season, really like the Impossible Girl and how she handles the new Doctor.

I like they are keeping it quite so we won’t know when she is to be replaced, but I’m sure when that day comes I’ll love the next companion.

Sorry I disagree, I’m really struggling with the new Doctor, familiarity with Clara is the only thing keeping me interested so far. Loosing Jenna would be a big lose at this stage.

  5. It started because an unnamed source from the production told the Mirror that Coleman wanted to move on and Moffat was happy to run with the change in their relationship caused by the regeneration and ending in the Christmas episode.

Part of his approach to take a more serious tack and make the show less about flirty banter and cartoon paced action. Though that appears to be a small change in tack.
