Leigh Sales is returning to ABC's 7.30 next week, following her recent maternity leave.

19lesLeigh Sales is returning to ABC’s 7.30 from Monday to Thursdays next week, following her recent maternity leave.

“Having time at home with my boys has been rewarding and now I’m ready to come back,” she said.

“I’ve been struck by how tumultuous world affairs have been during my absence and I’m eager to cover those developments. Of course, federal politics is always fascinating and I look forward to continuing the program’s tradition of holding our political leaders to account.”

Leigh has a well earned reputation for thorough, fair and agenda-setting interviews. As recently as 2012, she won the Walkley Award for Broadcasting and Online Interviewing.

Many of her most talked about interviews have become viral sensations in their own right – Leigh’s 2012 interview with Tony Abbott for example clocked almost 400,000 views on YouTube.

The gravitas and credibility of 7.30, combined with Leigh Sales’ reputation as one of our most gifted journalists, sees the program attract the most significant and influential local and international guests of any current affairs program in Australia.

Fridays continue to be the local 7.30 state editions.

  1. Dear Leigh Sales, whilst I am very happy that you have been able to take time off to spend time with your (newly expanded) family, I have one request: please don’t ever leave 7:30 for so long again!!!
