2014-09-16_1113UK chat show Alan Carr: Chatty Man will shift to a Pay TV premiere as part of the new BBC deal.

The new season will premiere on UKTV from October 14 about a month after its UK screening. It’s not yet clear if ABC will pick up the season in a year’s time when rights become available.

Natalie Edgar, Director of Television BBC Worldwide ANZ, said: “Alan Carr: Chatty Man is hugely popular and I am delighted to have secured such a strong title for the UKTV portfolio. Filled with larger than life characters, I am now more confident that ever that UKTV has the perfect mix of hilarious comedies, brilliant chat shows, classic drama and detective series, addictive soaps and iconic British events.”

The 15 x 60’ wonderfully self-deprecating series presented by BAFTA Award-winning Alan Carr delivers side-splitting comedy with even more laughter, silly antics, celebrities and top music acts than ever before.

Loved by both the public and his guests for his irrepressible, warm and witty approach, Alan welcomes a stellar line-up of guests including British pop sensation Jessie J, singer and songwriter Ella Eyre, critically acclaimed actors Kate Hudson and Zach Braff, stand-up comedian Lee Mack and funny man Jack Whitehall.

Also joining Alan on the couch for series 13 is Emmy Award-winner Dan Aykroyd, British rapper and singer-songwriter Professor Green, English rock band Kasabian and one of the best-selling artists of all time, Lionel Richie.

Each episode sees Alan entertain three celebrity guests on his sofa, where the usual rules of chat shows do not necessarily apply! There’s high jinks, juicy gossip and with Alan’s gentle mocking approach, who knows what the celebrities will reveal about themselves? Every episode culminates with a performance from a premier music act.

Tuesdays at 9.30pm from October 14 on UKTV.

  1. It’s Channel 4 in the UK but distributed by BBC Worldwide for the rest of us. Why would ABC be bothered with a year-old chat show now?

This just makes me hate Foxtel more. I went to iTunes for Steven Colbert & John Stewart after they stole them from ABC2 in 2010. I’ll be doing the same for Alan Carr too!

  2. Very disappointing UKTV aren’t screening it “Express from the UK” or, at the very least, a week later like ABC2 did. Lord knows there’s enough holes in UKTV’s schedule to fill. People will just view it by other means.
