Jointly presented by APRA AMCOS and the Australian Guild of Screen Composers, the awards will honour 12 categories in film and television, with nominees to be announced in mid-October.

Emmy Award winning composer Ashley Irwin returns as the Music Director with a live orchestra at the City Recital Hall on November 12.

“It’s both a pleasure and a privilege to be invited back to musically direct the Screen Music Awards. Having been away from Oz for 25 years, working on this show reminds me of the awesome talent that exists in Australia,” said composer and Music Director Ashley Irwin.

A panel of widely respected Australian film and television composers will determine four nominees for 10 categories.

The winners of Most Performed Screen Composer – Australia and Most Performed Screen Composer – Overseas are decided through analysis of performance activity reflected by royalty earnings.

The prestigious International Achievement Award (as determined by the APRA Board of Directors) will also be presented at the event. Previous recipients include Bruce Rowland, Lisa Gerrard, David Hirschfelder, Bruce Smeaton, Peter Best and John Polson.
