Simpsons / Futurama crossover plot revealed

Blame the Terminator. Bender is going back in time to try and kill off Homer.

2014-09-08_1440More details, and a first image, have been revealed on an upcoming crossover episode between The Simpsons and Futurama.

Set to air in the US on November 9th, “Simpsorama” is wryly taglined in the opening credits as “a show out of ideas teams up with a show out of episodes.”

“They were going off the air, so I thought people would really love it if we had one more chance to see those characters,” says Simpsons executive producer Al Jean.

“We’re always looking for things that are compatible with us, and I thought, ‘Well, what’s more compatible?’ We do a joke, actually, about how similar Bender and Homer look. Like, they just erased Homer’s hair.”

Futurama voice cast members who will be appearing include Billy West, John DiMaggio, Katey Sagal, Lauren Tom, Phil LaMarr, Tress MacNeille, and Maurice LaMarche.

The episode’s Terminator-inspired story Bender comes back through time to kill Bart in order to prevent the future from looking bad. According to EW, it starts with Bart blowing his nose on a sandwich that he places in a time capsule. When that mixes with Milhouse’s rabbit’s foot and some radioactive ooze, it creates a global catastrophe in the future.

Futurama was cancelled for a second time by Comedy Central in 2013, after running for seven seasons.

No word yet when new episodes air in Australia.
