The Living Room: Sept 12

Boob jobs or designer vaginas? Leanne Hall looks at cosmetic surgery this week on TEN.

2014-09-11_1614This week on The Living Room Chris is at the Darwin Beer Regatta, Barry looks at eco-friendly homes and Miguel is excited for International Chocolate Day (do we get a public holiday for that one?.

But it’s Leanne Hall’s look at boob jobs and designer vaginas that probably takes the cake….

Amazing but true, there is an International Chocolate Day and to celebrate Miguel is making a decadent flourless chocolate offering. With the help of master Belgian chocolatiers from Victoria’s Yarra Valley, Miguel brings his delicious recipe to life with stunning chocolate decorations.

Barry visits an eco-friendly home with a difference. In an effort to save money and the environment, owners Kate and Ian incorporated ancient building materials and methods utilising rammed earth. The “green” walls are strong, durable, non-combustible and keep it cool in summer and warm in winter.

It’s the America’s Cup of the Top End … well, kind of. Darwin’s Beer Can Regatta is world famous, with teams travelling from around Australia and the globe to toss a tinnie into the waters off Mindil Beach, all in the name of charity. Chris trades Bondi for beer cans but will he float or flounder?

Cosmetic surgery is a booming business in Australia. In a culture obsessed with youth, ageing for many is no longer a case of mind over matter. But will a boob job or Botox or designer vagina really improve one’s self esteem. Leanne puts her body on the line to find out if surgery is the solution.

7:30pm Friday on TEN.

  1. Here we have a show that, after 100 episodes still doesn’t know what it is.
    Beer can regatta – Tick
    Chocolate – Tick
    Eco-homes – Tick
Designer Vaginas? Really, do you think 7.30 Friday nights is the best place for this story? No wonder BHG will continue to rule because guess what – I can’t put my kids in front of the TV watching this usually kid friendly show anymore. The idiots who run this have clearly no idea and should look for another job. If you don’t know your audience and want to shock with sex stories you are clearly on the wrong lifestyle Titanic. There’s a pretty big white line between pushing the envelope and just being plain stupid, and unfortunately The Living Room has crossed the line too many times. They cooda been a contender, but they’re just pretenders who got lucky in a place where 500,000 viewers is called a success.
