Today show heads to the USA

Today is now US-bound next week with with guests Billy Idol, the Madden Brothers, Human Nature, and yes, Barbra Streisand.

2014-09-03_2119Just a week after Sunrise criss-crossed the US, the Today show is heading to America.

Karl Stefanovic, Lisa Wilkinson, Richard Wilkins, Ben Fordham and Sylvia Jeffreys will all be in the US next week with guests Billy Idol, the Madden Brothers, Sam Smith, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Megan Fox, Human Nature, Tara Reid, and the one and only Barbra Streisand.

“This is the fourth year we’ve done this trip and we can’t wait to get back into the fabulous Times Square studios of our sister program, Good Morning America. We’ll be on the corner of 44th and Broadway and we’d love as many Aussies as possible to come and visit us while we are on air,” said Wilkinson.

“We’ll be there during the US Open and just as New York Fashion Week kicks off – featuring everyone from Victoria Beckham to our own Aussie stars Dion Lee and Camilla Franks. Karl and I love the city that never sleeps, and besides, who doesn’t want to hang out in the country that counts tomato sauce as a vegetable?”

Karl Stefanovic said: “I’m looking forward to our audience watching me pack on fifteen kilos in five days, eat my body weight in hot dogs and drink a swimming pool of American beer. We’ve also got some special guests that will blow people’s minds, including one of my all-time idols who is about to renew a love affair with Australia … and hopefully me.”

Entertainment gurus Richard Wilkins and Richard Reid will hit the West Coast, meeting up with the popular male revue group Thunder from Down Under, sky-jumping (a cross between sky diving, bungee jumping and base jumping) in Las Vegas, checking out a celebrity boot camp, and becoming honorary cowboys in Dallas.

Emma Freedman will showcase some of the world’s most pristine locations as she explores beautiful national parks from Monument Valley located on the Arizona/Utah state line to the famous Grand Canyon.

TODAY reporter Chris Urquhart will then take us for a ride on the USA wild side, riding along with the real Miami Vice, visiting “Dollywood”, Dolly Parton’s theme park, and alligator spotting with the swamp people of Florida. He’ll also meet the wacky Americans preparing for the end of the world and sample moonshine in the Deep South.

And Sylvia Jeffreys will visit the new World Trade Centre exhibition to mark the 13th anniversary of 9/11.

  1. Good to see they have Billy Idol on it. I might even watch that one. The AFL should of tried to get him for the Grand Final. Bit better than Tom Jones me thinks…

  2. I don’t know why all the networks copy each other, they cant think of anything for themselves and 9 now have cash giveaways if that is copying I don’t know what is. Wish I could think of a positive thing to say about 9, used to watch it all the time but an not at all interested in it any more, I think it’s the people themselves.

  3. It looks like they’ve already filmed the segments they will be showing. They’ve put postings on Facebook announcing the trip and linking to a YouTube video with excerpts from the segments. At least Sunrise arrived in LA on Sunday, filmed the Venice Beach/Muscle Beach feature and showed it the following morning during the weather update.
