US anchor tells viewers he has months to live

I can’t imagine this happening on Australian TV, or if it did, I can’t imagine it in the same style….

WCIA-TV news anchor Dave Benton has told viewers he has just months to live, after learning from his doctors that a brain tumour is too large for surgery or radiation.

“Doctors have told me that I may have 4-6 months to live,” he said.

Benton, who says he has always been frank with his audience, has been with the channel for nine years.

“It will be nine years in about three weeks and I’m dedicated to continue good work. I want to know that there will be a moment where I will stop and say ‘I hope I did good work to our viewers, I served them, I did things well,'” he added.
