Airdate: Treasure Island

Next week STUDIO screens the first of a 2012 two-part miniseries, Treasure Island, with a name cast including Eddie Izzard, Elijah Wood and Donald Sutherland.

Produced for SKY in the UK, the screenplay was written by Stewart Harcourt, produced by Laurie Borg and directed by Steve Barron.

This special, two-part movie event presents an exciting, atmospheric new spin on the definitive pirate action adventure and classic tale of Treasure Island. Robert Louis Stevenson’s swashbuckling adventure about fantastical treasure, youthful courage and murderous greed features an all-star cast led by Eddie Izzard, Elijah Wood and Donald Sutherland. Young Jim Hawkins is the only one who can successfully get a schooner to a legendary island known for buried treasure. But aboard the ship is a mysterious cook named John Silver, whose true motivation on the journey challenges Jim’s trust in the entire crew. Starring Eddie Izzard (The Riches, Ocean’s Twelve) as Long John Silver, Elijah Wood (Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit) as Ben Gunn and Donald Sutherland (Pride and Prejudice, Ordinary People) as Flint. Also stars Toby Regbo (Harry Potter) as young Jim Hawkins.
