Brilliant Wentworth video steals the Upfronts show (but we can’t show you why)

The girls of Wentworth just want to watch Orange is the New Black. But the Governor was having none of it.

2014-10-31_0907Foxtel’s Upfronts got off to a rollicking start with a very clever video from the Wentworth team -in character- spruiking Foxtel to the media buyers in the room.

The laughs began with Vera Bennett in the Governor’s office suggesting that she install Foxtel for all the inmates to keep them relaxed.

But Governor Ferguson was having none of it. It would just be a breeding ground for Piracy theft -not happening on her watch. Suggestions they could all watch Orange is the New Black, were quickly shut down. It was “derivative” snapped the Governor.

Boomer was rabid for getting Foxtel, telling Franky about its various features. But Franky reckoned it was all full of branded shit (whereupon Boomer produced a Qantas fluffy toy and walked away sheepishly).

Meanwhile Jim Fletcher was showing Will Jackson Foxtel Go on his phone.

Doreen Anderson was desperate to watch those Real Housewives of Melbourne, but the pragmatic Liz Birdsworth was telling her it would just get her addicted to all their other fabulous titles.

In between there was lots of ad-speak terms used which had all the suits in the audience chuckling and cheering.

It was an inspired idea deftly executed. The kind of thing the Logies used to do really well.

So now you want to see it, right? Sorry. I’m hearing it can’t be uploaded to YouTube because it was filmed for limited corporate use not public consumption.

Maybe we need one of those Place to Call Home-style petitions to make it happen.
