Darker tone hinted for A Place to Call Home

Now that it has moved from Free to Air to STV, Marta Dusseldorp hints at subtle shifts in A Place to Call Home.

2014-10-30_2235A Place to Call Home was the pride and joy of Foxtel at their 2015 Upfronts last night, going as far as to calling it “Australia’s favourite drama.”

Cast members in attendance included Marta Dusseldorp, Brett Climo, Craig Hall, Abby Earl, Arianwen Parkes-Lockwood and Aldo Mignone.

Marta Dusseldorp told TV Tonight, the renewal was all due to the fans who mounted campaigns to save the show.

“Really it’s quite simple: thank you,” she said.

“In my dark days their warmth was like an angora blanket around me and my children. I will be forever grateful.

“I really think the zeitgeist was very important, and obviously people talking about it and loving it and wanting it has made that happen. ”

Foxtel will replay the first and second seasons including with the alternate ending that sets the characters on a third season, which she hints could take a different tone now it has shifted from Free to Air to Pay Television.

“They have commissioned 2 seasons and it gives us a lot of scope to really play with what happens next and that’s what we love about it most,” she explained.

“I think it will be a little bit darker. Now everyone know who they are and what they’re capable of we can really delive back into the under growth.”

The Foxtel renewal includes the full cast, with Dusseldorp saying she was happy to find room in her calendar for more melodrama.

“Oh yes. We bumped and shifted a few other things, but it was an absolute pleasure.”

Well I guess now the storyline will eventually come out about Olivia and the baby and how she basically bought her son.
