FOX Sports wins award for Ref Cam

FOX Sports has been awarded a Sportel Golden Podium Award in Monaco for Best Innovation.

2014-10-09_2255FOX Sports has been awarded a Sportel Golden Podium Award in Monaco for Best Innovation, for its Ref Cam technology.

Developed by Globecast Australia in partnership with FOX Sports, Ref Cam made its NRL debut in Round 11 transmitting live vision from the referee’s point of view during the action.

FOX Sports Head of Production, Gary Burns, said: “The launch of Ref Cam in NRL this season was a breakthrough night for television. The footage was unbelievable; we believe Ref Cam is one of the greatest innovations not only for FOX Sports but for sports broadcasting.”

  1. Agree. The view of the sweat on the side of Henry perenaras head in the first week of the nrl finals was outstanding viewing. Grand final ratings were so high because people wanted to see more side head sweat. Disappointing that Gerard sutton had it in a slightly different position.
