Please Like Me nominated for International Emmy Award

Josh Thomas has picked up another international award nomination, this time in the International Emmy Awards.

Please Like Me has been nominated for the Comedy award alongside entries from South Africa, Brazil and Belgium.

It is the only Australian entry across 10 categories.

The ABC2 show has previously been nominated for the Rose D’Or Awards, GLAAD Media Awards and Logie Awards, as well as wins from the AACTA Awards, Australian Writers’ Guild and Australian Directors Guild.

ABC Director of Television Richard Finlayson said: “ABC are thrilled at this incredible achievement from a remarkable show. Josh Thomas and his team have done not just ABC, but all of us in Aussie TV, proud.”

ABC TV Head of Comedy Rick Kalowski said, “Please Like Me is a series only the ABC could have made – and as well as Josh and his amazing team, I offer my huge gratitude to my ABC predecessors Debbie Lee and Stuart Menzies, who commissioned one of our greatest shows”.

The final episode of the second season airs tonight at 9:30pm on ABC2.

Other titles competing for International Emmys include entries from Broadchurch, The Tunnel, Utopia (UK), Masterchef (China) and Doctor Who: An Adventure in Space and Time.

Winners will be announced on November 24 at the Hilton New York Hotel.
