Seven denies rumours over Kyly Clarke exit from Dancing with the Stars

Seven maintains Kyly Clarke's exit from Dancing was due to injury and not the rumours that persist.

kyclMark Holden’s bizarre rant overshadowed the exit of Kyly Clarke on Dancing with the Stars last week, but industry chatter has persisted over the explanation given about an injury to her hamstring tendon on her right leg.

Today News Corp speculates her husband cricketer Michael Clarke was against her appearing in the show. Noting she has gone to Dubai to be with him, it claims “less than 24 hours after her teary announcement, Clarke was seen walking through Sydney airport in stilettos.”

While the injury, as evidenced with x-rays on the show, was real, questions persist about whether there was more to her sudden exit.

Dancing with the Stars has a long history of dancers forming close bonds, sometimes leading to relationships, and other times causing partners some unnecessary angst.

A Seven spokesperson told TV Tonight, the rumours were just that.

“The injury is fair dinkum and a risk,” they said.

“Dancing (training, type of movement, unusual stress on legs, hips etc etc) is the worst kind of activity.

“There is gossip and it’s just that.”

But Seven also confirmed Clarke’s doctor Dr. John Orchard is a doctor for Cricket NSW, and organised by Clarke not Seven.

While Kyly Clarke clearly has a diagnosed injury, skilled choreographers such as dance partner Damian Whitewood have also been known to create routines that don’t put performers at risk, on a show where injuries are rife.

Clarke’s exit follows the departure of Paul Fenech from the show, initially cited as “personal reasons” prior to the revelation he was facing a court over an alleged altercation.

  1. So because she was seen walking in stilettos she must not be injured. Did they expect to see someone pushing her in a wheelchair or something. Fair dinkum.

  2. Im pretty sure Micahel would want her to do it and not be some possessive husband who told his wife to leave.

But Kyle isnt a sportsperson or a professional dancer so she doesnt need to ice up her hammy and get ready for a performance in 3 weeks time. So if she wants to see her husband then let her.

I just see it as it is. She hurt her hammy we saw the x rays and she couldn’t continue. I dont see a story.

  3. It’s hardly surprising that Clarke sent his wife to one of the top sports medicine doctors in the country, someone whom he knows and trusts.

Nor are there any facts inconsistent with a partial tear of a hamstring that needs rest and could be aggravated by strenuous activity.

It doesn’t make sense that Clarke would let her do it then concoct a conspiracy to force her out mid season attracting a lot of publicity.

It could be that she decided it wasn’t for her and pulled out when she she got an injury. But only she would know that .
