Seven drops legal action against Boland book

"We have read it we have found there is nothing in it so have decided not to continue with further legal proceedings," says Seven.

2014-10-09_1022Legal proceedings by Seven against Adam Boland’s new book Brekky Central have been dropped by the network.

Melbourne University Press had sought to rush the book to stores ahead of Seven’s legal action.

A Seven spokesperson said, “Seven was successful in obtaining court orders to prevent further sales until we read the book to check there no breach of confidentiality and now that we have read it we have found there is nothing in it so have decided not to continue with further legal proceedings.

“Adam Boland has agreed with Seven to discontinue the proceedings with no order as to costs.”

The book, which now boasts “The book that Channel 7 tried to stop” was released in electronic form by MUP yesterday.

Adam Boland writes about his many years running Sunrise plus his brief hiring at Network TEN and his breakdown.

MUP Chief Executive, Louise Adler said: ‘The spectacle of one media organisation attempting to prevent another from airing material in the public interest is the height of arrogance. On behalf of MUP and our author I take great exception to Channel Seven’s conduct. This has been a fishing expedition with the rather unpleasant undertone of a personal vendetta.”

    1. They were being cautionary. It’s understandable they wanted to make sure commercial in confidence info, such as salaries, was not revealed. Given they have not objected to 332 pages I would chill.

  1. It sounds fascinating to me … I will be buying it!
I don’t work in the industry or even watch Sunrise more than occasionally but love this “behind the scenes” kind of stuff.
Will he be doing a book signing in Melbourne???

  2. @jonno yeah definitely heading for the the one dollar bin, it sounds lightweight and fluffy like the tv shows he helped to create.

I was hoping for scandal with some salacious bombshells about who was having a tryst with who

  3. Apart from people working in the TV industry, who would really want to read this. I am a Sunrise viewer and have no interest in it. I feel as though I know all the cast well anyway. I tip it will be in the Kmart bin for a dollar in no time.

  4. Legal threats to intimate are routine these days. The effect is far greater than the number of court cases one, people are do scared to say anything in the first place.
