Seven issues summons over Adam Boland memoirs

Seven network has issued Adam Boland with a summons to see if his forthcoming book breaches a confidentiality agreement.

2014-10-02_1633Seven network has issued former Director of Morning Television Adam Boland with a summons to see if his forthcoming book Brekky Central breaches a confidentiality agreement.

The memoirs divulging “behind the smiles of Australian breakfast television” are published by Melbourne University Press and due for release on November 3rd.

Seven’s move is an action for preliminary discovery of its contents.

Fairfax reports MUP wouldn’t normally send out early copies so an order has been sought through Sydney courts.

“We are renowned for publishing books with spine,” MUP chief executive Louise Adler said. “We stand by this very personal book and the author. Brekky Central is a celebration of television.”

The former Sunrise boss spent 14 years at Seven before overseeing TEN’s recent foray into breakfast television before departing following a breakdown.

In a promotional video in August he teased, “Television is a tough business, relentless. And sometimes the pressure become just too great.

“In my book Brekky Central I’ll take you behind the camera. You’ll learn what it takes to keep a show on top, the big rewards and the personal cost.”

Seven declined to comment.
