Some of Australia’s most successful sportswomen talk to Kelli Underwood in Breaking Ground, a new talk series which was recognised this week at the 2014 Australian Sports Commission Media Awards.
In this six-part series Underwood interviews Layne Beachley, Cathy Freeman, Dawn Fraser, Jana Pittman, Louise Sauvage and Liz Ellis.
“We know their names, we’ve seen their sporting highlight reels over and over again, but when have we actually heard them talk about their entire life story? Breaking Ground covers where they started, to how they got there and their reflections on their journey. We hear the funny stories but also see another side to these sporting heroes, including some rare displays of raw emotion,” she said.
“Our leading sportsmen get so much air time; I thought this was a great opportunity to give much deserved attention to some of our icons of sport, who are truly great role models. I learned something new about them all.”
7.30pm on Tuesday, December 2, on FOX Sports.

Why are they all female?
Is that the reason they “breaking gound”.
Thanks for this David, looking forward to the remainder of the episodes after they aired an Ellyse Perry interview earlier in the year. The Liz Ellis interview should be fantastic considering her and Kelli work together on the Netball.
