Seven News presenter Peter Mitchell will take viewers inside the redeveloped Shrine of Remembrance.

2014-11-06_1212Seven News Melbourne will commemorate Remembrance Day with a half-hour special unveiling the redevelopment of the Shrine of Remembrance, hosted by Peter Mitchell.

Galleries of Remembrance with Peter Mitchell will air in Melbourne this Sunday with an in-depth and exclusive tour of the Shrine’s new Galleries of Remembrance ahead of the public opening on November 11.

The Galleries of Remembrance have been built to ensure the respect for Victorians who served and died at war is never lost, and to tell the stories of these soldiers, their service and their sacrifice.

With more than 850 exhibits, the Galleries of Remembrance honour the first and second World Wars as well as conflicts like Afghanistan and, most recently, peacekeeping missions.

Among the most impressive exhibits are the Changi flag, kept safe by POWs during the Second World War at Changi Prison, and a timber lifeboat used to ferry soldiers ashore at Gallipoli.

November 9 at 5.30pm on Channel 7.
