Airdate: Mayday

A picture-perfect town is thrown into upheaval by the gruesome murder of a young girl during May Day festivities.

2014-11-26_1316Next week BBC First airs an entire 5 part crime series Mayday, across Monday to Friday -a great alternative to Free to Air’s summer season.

The 2013 series by Ben Court sees a picture-perfect town is thrown into upheaval by the gruesome murder of a young girl during May Day festivities.

Produced by the makers of Spooks and The Hour, it stars Aiden Gillen, Sophie Okonedo and Peter Firth.

As the town’s community comes together to celebrate Mayday, the yearly pagan festival, the May Queen goes missing. The story unfolds through the eyes of four characters. Each suspect that the murder of the young girl was by someone they know and trust; but they all have their reasons to keep silent.

Mayday explores the horror of living with a suspected killer, where home is the most frightening place to be. The killer is among them, one of them. Trust no one.

Starring: Peter Firth (Spooks, Hunt For Red October), Sophie Okonedo (Criminal Justice, The Slap), Aidan Gillen (Game Of Thrones, The Wire), Tom Fisher (New Tricks, Treasure Island), Max Fowler (The Hour, Doctors), Lesley Manville (Law & Order UK, The Queen), Peter McDonald (Spooks, The Damned United), Leila Mimack (Son of God, Law & Order UK)

Monday to Friday at 7.30pm from December 1 on BBC First.
