Australia Channel misses launch date

Due to launch on Saturday, SKY's answer to the axed Australia Network, will launch on Monday.

2014-11-01_1831The new online Australia Channel, SKY’s much-vaunted substitute for ABC’s Australia Network, is not off to a good start.

Due to launch yesterday, it was nowhere to be seen.

The australiachannel.com.au website was still touting it was “Coming Soon” just two days after a Press Release claimed it would be available from 1st November in Asia.

A SKY News spokesperson yesterday told TV Tonight it would now be available from Monday.

  1. You can’t view it in Australia? I was just about to launch into a detailed how-to guide about VPNs and proxy servers but I doubt whether anybody in this country would even want to watch it.

  2. David, can your Sky News contact tell us where it “launches” – at australiachannel.com.au?

Is there an iPad or iPhone app to view?

Angelos said it would be on devices.

It can’t find any info. You would think it would be online at 6am Monday – or the website would have info at the vey least

  3. “SKY’s much-vaunted substitute for ABC’s Australia Network” aint no substitute. ABC kept continuity by seamlessly introducing Australia Plus, a 90% clone of AN. More Australian entertainment shows being added, available FTA, A-League, Melb Cup, ABC24 news.
If Australia Channel is what we would have received had the AN contract gone to SKY…phew…so glad it didn’t. Meanwhile, Julie and Malcolm’s efforts to kill AN/Aust Plus were as successful as Aust Channel’s were to launch on time.
@Russell – You can’t view it in Australia.

  4. Oh, that’s just Gold.

A new network is about to launch and they just miss by 3 days.

    How the hell?

    Hilarious.

Even n the press release they didn’t announce the website or where or how to view. No publicity, no website, no social media. Nothing;.

And that logo? It looks like an indigenous network not a news network.

    I can’t.
