FOX Sports tribute to Phillip Hughes

FOX Sports will remember Phillip Hughes' twin Test centuries against South Africa in 2009 this Sunday night.

2014-11-28_1249FOX Sports will pay tribute to cricketer Phillip Hughes with a special broadcast of his incredible twin Test centuries against South Africa in 2009 this Sunday night.

CEO Patrick Delany said, “On behalf of FOX Sports, I would like to pass on our deepest sympathies to the Hughes family, Phillip’s friends and team mates, and the very close-knit cricket community where he was so loved and admired as one of Australia’s great young cricketing talents.

“The entire sports community is reeling and our thoughts are with Phillip’s family and everyone affected by this tragic accident.”

Hughes, wearing the famous Baggy Green for just the second time in his career at the age of 20, became the youngest player in the history of Test cricket to notch a century in each innings of a Test match when he blasted the world’s best pace attack for scores of 115 and 160 in back-to-back innings in the second Test in Durban.

The remarkable twin Test centuries propelled the Aussies to an unassailable 2-0 series lead on the 2009 tour of South Africa, making Hughes the toast of the nation and prompting experts to make early comparisons of the boy from Macksville to the great Sir Donald Bradman.
