Heart-warming surprise for The Living Room audience
The Living Room ends the year with a special surprise that left everyone fighting back the tears.

If you missed Friday’s Christmas episode of The Living Room on TEN there’s a moment worth watching on catch-up.
Promised as ‘an Australian television first’ it left the audience speechless.
Prior to the taping of the episode, every audience member was asked by Santa Claus what they really wanted for Christmas. Little did they realise, he had an earpiece to Producers who were quietly noting down every gift idea.
While the episode was being filmed, staff at online department store oo.com.au were hurriedly packaging their requests together -to be delivered to them by the end of the episode. There were toys, tablets, food processors, new TVs and flights all arriving before their very eyes.
One request was so heartfelt that many were fighting back the tears.
While the idea isn’t entirely original (Westjet Airlines did this a year ago), it was definitely a crowd-pleaser.
You can see The Living Room‘s surprise at around 65 minutes on this video (drag the cursor then wait for ads to play).
Omg you’re going to make me cry #thelivingroom @channelten

I finally got to watch it …just now…after 4 attempts….Love that TEN knew where I had left off each time….
And Good One David Knox…that you picked up on the original concept…
Merry Christmas everyone!!
The episode is repeated at 11:00am on 10 on Friday, in case anyone missed it or is having trouble with the clip.
A brilliant idea and a great way to cap off a great show. It has stabilised in the ratings with a regular audience of 500-600K, but it’s a shame that we will be in repeats now.
Same problems with video.
Forwarded to 65m after a few adds and got 30 seconds of video then more adds and no more video.
Shame .. sounds like it was a wonderful end of year surprise.
That was well done and very touching.
Having trouble with the video, what was the heartfelt request?
Thanks for the heads-up; enjoyed watching this.
I watched the repeat yesterday morning.
It was so beautiful.
That sweet little boy … :'(
Great show! I love it!
Great to see, I think the best part was the total surprise! Fantastic effort Ten.
It was a touching end to the show this year. It was a great idea no matter where it came from.
That was beautiful.
