Social media anger over Big Bash delays

A one hour delay in Queensland upsets sports fans, but there is some good news.

2014-12-20_1811Cricket fans in Queensland, including some Brisbane-based Australian cricketers, have taken to social media to vent about delays to TEN’s Big Bash League.

Matches on Thursday and Friday were delayed by a one hour start following The Project.

Some readers on TV Tonight have also complained about the delays.

Despite the claim the big bash league was live, it was a delayed broadcast into Brisbane.
I accidentally saw the final results on the net whilst watching the game, it took away any further interest for me, very disappointing!

Seriously unimpressed that Ten aren’t screening any Big Bash games live in Brisbane. Last year they were all live and The Project screened after the game. Please Ten, show the games live, or move them to One for the first hour.

So it looks like Ten won’t be showing the Big Bash live into Qld on Thurs night. At least Nine can always show cricket live.

The Courier Mail also took up the cause for local sport fans:

Having any games delayed into Queensland is still an ordinary result for this state of renowned sports lovers.

It is understood about 15 of the 35 Big Bash games will be shown on delay in Queensland.

A TEN spokesperson said early start times by the BBL were to blame.

“It is live in Queensland for the next two weeks. After that, some live, some delayed,” he told TV Tonight.

“We will be airing 34 KFC T20 Big Bash League matches in prime time. Unfortunately, due to the earlier start times of Big Bash matches this year, there will be some matches that will be delayed in Brisbane and Adelaide.

“The majority of matches will be live in every market on TEN, with all matches available live in Perth on ONE and then replayed on TEN in Perth at 8.30pm.”

The Project‘s 2014 season has now ended which meant Live coverage began last night. Coverage in Queensland is from 6pm.

  1. Gee – if only someone could invent some sort of multi-channel thingy where TV networks could broadcast multiple alternative programs over a relatively small bandwidth… oh wait.

  2. @ Ditto, All AFL matches are Live into Qld.

This just proves how far ahead and why the AFL is the Number 1 sport in Australia, compared to the very lazy NRL, ARU and Cricket Australia.

Delayed sport shouldn’t be excepted any where in Australia.
