South Melbourne studio sale

South Melbourne studios home to Dancing with the Stars, Million Dollar Minute, Family Feud and FOX Footy have been sold.

2014-12-14_2248The South Melbourne studios home to such shows as Dancing with the Stars, Million Dollar Minute, Family Feud and FOX Footy programs have been acquired 100% by NEP Australia (formerly Global Television).

NEP has acquired Seven’s 50 per cent share in Coventry Street Properties, owner of the Media City Melbourne (MCM) television studio complex.

Seven will remain a client with a multi-year commitment while other independent producers have included Endemol Australia, FremantleMedia Australia, Roving Enterprises and Shine.

NEP Australia CEO Keith Andrews said: “NEP is always exploring options to grow our business and further engage with the local television production community. As with our recent purchase of Silk Studios in Sydney, we are committed to owning and operating studios, and assuming full ownership of Media City Melbourne complements that strategy. We have enjoyed a successful working relationship with Seven and look forward to continuing to service Seven Network productions while also seeking to further diversify MCM’s client base.”

By mid-January the facilities will complete an upgrade of all internal technical facilities and the existing studio control room to High Definition.

  1. NEP run the largest OB fleet but there are other players, notably Gearhouse who service 7’s sport production and one or two boutique operators. I think NEP are launching their 10th HD truck in Australia early 2015.

  2. NEP are getting properties everywhere, together with their OB trucks they are getting to be very important in live tv in Australia.

Are there any OB vans that do not belong to NEP ?
