Big Bash helps TEN to win Monday

Sure it's summer, but TEN winning a night is a rarity whatever week of the year it is.

2015-01-07_0135It may be the non-ratings season, but TEN will still be rejoicing with a win on Monday night, its first since MasterChef departed our screens.

TEN scored 922,000 viewers for is Big Bash Post Game coverage -but this overlooks another 105,000 who were watching Live on ONE in Perth -a total of 1.07m metro viewers.

TEN claimed that with added Regional viewers their highest audience was 1.46m -the ‘best regular season audience ever.’

It was also the most tweeted about TV program on Monday, accounting for 44% of all TV-related tweets. Both #BBL04 and #AskFreddie were trending -although not all of them were positive, with Queensland and South Australian viewers frustrated over delays. Last night TEN aired the game Live into South Australia.

TEN won Monday with a 27.6% network share over Seven 25.1%, Nine 24.5%, ABC 16.8% and SBS 6.1%.

  1. @TinMan – using the argument of it being a Syd-Mel match, the numbers for Perth should also have been down but in fact there were about as many in Per watching it live on One as there were in Bri watching the delayed broadcast on 10.

    The numbers for Bri were also way down on Tue.

  2. It was a Melbourne vs Sydney game, so its not surprising that Brisbane is down relative to population.

    I wouldn’t be surprised when they release the fixtures for next season most of the Brisbane Heat and Adelaide Strikers games will fall on Saturday or Sunday on weeks The Project is still on- the likely exception being if the decide to kick off the comp at the awesome Adelaide Oval.

  3. Two things to note:
    1. The Brisbane numbers were significantly down relative to their population;
    2. This is why trending on Twitter is a not a measure of anything other than the number of tweets. As mentioned, a significant proportion and possibility a majority of those tweets were complaining about the coverage not being live in QLD and SA.

  4. @David Knox – a super over is when the game is a draw after 20 overs or 50 overs. In which they have 6 balls per side to see who wins. There was no super over last night

  5. “TEN scored 922,000 viewers for is Big Bash Post Game coverage”– do you not think it has something to do with the game finishing in a Super Over??

  6. Seven just beat Ten on the main channel with their docudramas and Bones. It was good numbers on One, because of the game in Perth, that got Ten the network win.
