There have been a number of docos on the band now, so I’m not sure how this one stacks up. But any excuse to indulge in their music is fine with me.

Queen: Mercury Rising
Freddie Mercury, Brian May, Roger Taylor and John Deacon, four names synonymous with one of the world’s all-time greatest rock bands, Queen. During their illustrious career Queen released 15 studio albums in total and has sold between 150-300 million albums worldwide, making them one of the world’s bestselling bands of all time. This is the story of the rise of one of the greatest and iconic rock bands in the world from the very beginning through to the sad demise of Freddie Mercury in 1991. Through classic archive footage of some of their greatest hits and interviews with Brian May and the likes of Paul Gambaccini their incredible and unique story is told. This is the definitive story of Queen!

It will be followed by a replay of The Story of Bohemian Rhapsody, which Foxtel is claiming as a premiere despite it airing in both 2008 and 2014.

This programme focusses entirely on the song Bohemian Rhapsody, exploring the recording, the video, it’s success and it’s meaning. It features brand new interviews with Brian & Roger, and takes them back to Monmouth Studios in Wales where they recorded the track. It also features some rare excerpts from the 24-track tapes, although many of these feature interviews over the top, or are mixed with other versions.
