Gorgi Coghlan wins Project role when Carrie Bickmore begins maternity leave

Speculation on who will fill in for Carrie Bickmore ends as former Circle presenter lands full time gig.

2015-02-28_0116Gorgi Coghlan will replace Carrie Bickmore on The Project when she begins maternity leave next month.

The former Circle co-presenter, who has been a regular guest presenter since 2009, will become full time on the panel show from Monday March 9th.

No end date has been locked in for the role.

Executive Producer, Craig Campbell, said: “Gorgi has been such a great fill-in for Carrie when she has been away and is the obvious person to keep her seat warm. We are very excited to have someone with such warmth and professionalism joining us at the desk each night.”

Gorgi Coghlan said: “I’m super excited to be extending my co-hosting role from Friday nights to five nights a week. I’ve never worked with such a talented team, where every single producer, contributor and panel member is an absolute joy to work with. We’ll be aiming to make Bickmore laugh when she’s at home on the couch enjoying this precious chapter in her life.”

With Coghlan joining Waleed Aly and Peter Helliar, The Project will no longer feature any of its original fulltime presenting team.

  1. I have a feeling the ratings will go down. Waleed seems to upset a lot of people with his forceful interview methods and it just wont be the same without Carrie!

  2. Nice to see ten have supported gorgi after they stupidly axed the popular the circle under murdochs control. Gorgi is good and is an impressive singer. Would love to see her sing again sometime. I was hoping gretel might have got the job. Maybe gretel can fill in from time to time. Gretel adds female humor to the show which is a nice mix.
