Nowhere Boys, Dance Academy win at Kidscreen Awards

ABC3 shows have both won prizes at the Kidscreen Awards in Miami, last night.

ABC3 shows Nowhere Boys and Dance Academy have both won prizes at the Kidscreen Awards in Miami, last night.

Matchbox Pictures’ Nowhere Boys was voted Best New Series 2015 in the Tweens / Teens Category while Werner Film Productions’ Dance Academy won Best Non-Animated or Mixed Series 2015 in the same Category.

Nowhere Boys also won the iKids Award for Best Website 2015. Producer Beth Frey said “it is an incredible honour to even be amongst these world-class TV creators, let alone win”.

Chris Oliver-Taylor Managing Director, Matchbox Pictures, said of the win: “We are so immensely proud of Nowhere Boys and thrilled for Tony Ayres that his creative vision has been so richly rewarded by these awards. Beth Frey has led the production of the Nowhere Boys series and this success stems from her leadership of an amazing cast and crew. We are incredibly pleased to be recognised by Kidscreen in such an impressive international arena.”

Interactive game Nowhere Boys: The 5Th Boy was built by Melbourne based game developers Millipede and produced by Julie Eckersley of Matchbox Pictures.

The movie Nowhere Boys “The Rise of Bear” gets is currently in planning, which will see the Boys called upon to help avert a magical catastrophe and in doing so unwittingly transport a powerful teenage witch into their world which unleashes the full wrath of the Restoring Demon.
