Son of Pick A Box champ in Million Dollar Minute quest

If the current champ on Million Dollar Minute, Greg Eccleston, proves to be a chip off the old block, Seven’s accountants may need a Bex and a lie down.

In 1958 his father, Ken, earnt the title ‘Mr Pick A Box’ after competing for an incredible 10 consecutive weeks on the famed quiz show hosted by Bob Dyer winning £3873 pounds.

Yesterday Greg began his run on the Seven quiz show by winning “just” $20,000 -the first on the ladder to six figures.

Host, Simon Reeve, said “Greg’s quiz show pedigree is excellent, and so are his chances of going all the way to win the one million dollars.”

That remains to be seen, but Seven is yet to see anybody walk away with the top prize.

Pick A Box ran on Seven for a mammoth run from 1957 – 1971 with Barry Jones as its most famous contestant.
