The final tally at midnight for the Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal was a record breaking $17,109,063.22.

It eclipsed last year’s total of $16.8 million.

Cast members from Seven shows including Home And Away, Winners & Losers, Sunrise, Better Homes and Gardens and My Kitchen Rules were out in force at both the Melbourne Convention Centre and the Royal Children’s Hospital to drum up donations for a good cause.

A primetime variety concert featured Lee Kernaghan, Jessica Mauboy, Taylor Henderson, Justice Crew, Marlisa and more.

There was no big cheque when Jennifer Keyte and Appeal Director Anne Randall announced the final total but the crowd was on its feet applauding the tireless crew and volunteers who had been working for some 16 hours on air.

“Thankyou, thankyou, thankyou. You’ve done a wonderful job and Victorian’s are just brilliant people, so generous and I just couldn’t have asked for a better result,” said Randall.

Jennifer Keyte said: “What a sensation Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal. Victoria you have done us proud. Such generosity, so many volunteers, it’s been a spectacular day.”

Congrats to all!

  1. On a side note David if I can be picky. You have no mention of the Adelaide Easter appeal on nine adelaide on this coming Monday. It will be the first live telethon in Adelaide since 1989. Nothing in programming did nine forget to send out the press pack?

  2. lol people like to hear their name read out,why don’t they say the real amount they received bet its nowhere near $17.1m hope it is but human nature will never let you down

      1. Well there is a cut off point when the appeal is over then they could account for the true amount I was involved in Ch7& GWN WA appeal when it first started and I was amazed how many people “just forgot” as a mater of fact they started to offer prizes if you send in your donation!!

  3. Great effort, I always enjoyed this event on TV when in Melbourne for Easter and went to the concert last year, well done to everyone involved!
