Dancin’ Daniel MacPherson has quit Dancing With The Stars, leaving speculation wide-open as to who will be his replacement.

MacPherson, who replaced Daryl Somers in 2008, told TV Week it was time for new projects.

“I’ve done my seven series, and I’ve loved it, but it’s time now to focus on my acting,” he said.

MacPherson stars in the low-budget sci-fi Infini, which will be released digitally in Australia, but having a cinema release in the US.

“Because of the success of movie and the way things are going career-wise, that’s why I’ve chosen to step away from Dancing,” he said.

“I’ve worked hard to reinvigorate my acting career and I’m focused on that 100%. Eddie (Edwina Bartholomew) will have to find a new co-host.”

He also features in the upcoming MTV fantasy series, The Shannara Chronicles, currently shooting in New Zealand.

MacPherson was an excellent ringmaster juggling all the Live elements, but any suggestions who should replace him for 2015?

  1. I think they should give someone new ago! They’ve been using the same faces for so long. I’m in love with David Whitehill. He’s good looking and be perfect for that role!

  2. Make Edwina Bartholomew the primary host and get another guy as a co-host – they could probably rope in someone from Home and Away.

  3. Tim Campbell. He hosted TV before, he’s energetic and he’s not too old. Not being ageist
but the show needs some one young to get the audience.

  4. I think itll be someone very vanilla and non-offensive like Luke Jacobz or Larry Emdur – its an extremely conservative audience. I doubt theyll go down the 2-female host role. I agree Andrew O’Keefe would be good as hes very energetic but I also think he’d be quite bored.

  5. Larry Emdur would be great, although any The Morning Show viewer could tell you he hates DWTS. Kylie Gillies loves the show and would be great, but don’t think you can have two females Co-hosting in primetime.

  6. Sad to see Daniel McPherson depart DWTS. He was a fantastic host on this show with a lot of potential. I hope that Luke Jacobz will replace McPherson this year.

  7. I didn’t like him at first when he took over from Daryl but he’s grown on me & I think he’s done a great job. Eddy has been a great co-host too. I thought last season was technically one of the worst but that’s down to producer or director.

  8. With the popularity of Edwina, I wonder if she could step up to host? However her personality is better suited to the backstage chats. What’s the chances of two female co-hosts?

  9. Sorry, I hit submit before I meant to. They may also look overseas for somebody as that would definitely foster interest in the show, I suppose. It’s a plum gig on a show that just keeps on keeping on, so I’m sure agents are emailing Channel Seven in droves today with their clients’ CVs.

  10. Andrew O’Keefe-Not sure It’d be his thing.
The TV Week article mentioned Larry Emdur, he might be good to inject a bit of star power into the show.
