Matt Doran quits TEN for US hosting

US producers spot Matt Doran presenting TEN's Wanted and offer him a US gig.

TEN News man Matt Doran has quit the network after landing a plum hosting role in the US.

He will leave after 8 years with the network to host Crime Watch Daily after being spotted on the defunct series, Wanted.

“It came about really quickly and quite recently. The producers were scouring the globe for a host. I think they just looked upon some of my stuff online,” he told Daily Mail.

“I got a call out of the blue asking me if I was interested in a show like this. It took poor old Scott (Eldridge, producer) four or five attempts to convince me he was legitimate and I wasn’t being pranked.

“The odds of being plucked from obscurity from across the world are very very slim. I had to get my head around the magnitude of it all.”

The format is not too dissimilar to Wanted.

“What Crime Watch Daily will do, I really truly believe, is it will help to uncover crime stories in some of the small cites in America and turn them into national headlines.”

  1. I’m surprised he hung around as long as he did – he was fantastic, but Channel Ten just kept overlooking him. I really enjoyed him on The Project and was sad that he didn’t get the job.

  2. Sad to see Matt go. After the demise of Ten’s morning news bulletin, The Late News (which he hosted more than the actual host),the non renewal of Wanted (even after a second series had been confirmed) and being overlooked for The Project gig, it is disappointing to see Matt leave Ten but not surprising. He is a great talent. Wishing him every success.

    1. Hamish McDonald was no great loss really. His specials were more focused on him than the subject and he was no Sandra Sully when it came to hosting The Late News…when he bothered to show up that is.

  3. I didn’t realise until today he is dating Justine Schofiled of ‘Everyday Gourmet…’. He is such a hottie and a big loss of talent for TEN 🙁

  4. I’m so sad to see Matt Doran leave Ten. He has contributed well on The Project, defunct Breakfast, Wanted and the news. Let’s hope we might find another male with some stint on The Project desk.

  5. He is a natural TV presenter. A loss for Ten as he performed well on The Project, Wanted and News. Who is left as the fill in for Waleed besides Matt White? Hamish Macdonald, Charlie Pickering, Rove and now Matt Doran have all left the Ten building. Surely the work experience kid will be the next to get the call up to The Project desk.
