It's the kind of chat show you might expect if you gave the TV studio keys to Generation Y.

It’s the kind of chat show you might expect if you gave the TV studio keys to Generation Y –Live on Bowen is back on community TV this week.

Comedian Simon Taylor, who has written for Mad as Hell (and even The Tonight Show with Jay Leno according to a press release) hosts the low-budget show produced by RMIT Student Community Television.

But with CTV set to be closed down on free to air television, this will be the final season for Live on Bowen (named after Bowen Street where it is produced).

The first episode includes free-wheeling interviews, comedy, musical performances and frozen raspberries.

Melbourne and LA based stand-up comedian Simon Taylor will return to his role as Live on Bowen’s host. Simon has a vast comedic background with writing credits on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and Shaun Micallef’s Mad as Hell. He was recently described by Time Out as a ‘shooting star of the comedy scene’. Simon has performed stand-up around the world, including in New York, Singapore and Cambodia.

Joining Simon will be returning cast members Claire Sullivan and Rob Caruana. Live on Bowen is also excited to announce that two new cast members will be joining the show this season. Fresh off the back of their gigs at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, comedians Elizabeth Davie and Peter Jones will round out this season’s cast.

Unfortunately Australian Community TV is set to lose its television license later this year. This means shows like Live on Bowen, which harbour some of Australia’s best up-and-coming talent, will no longer be produced. Despite the setbacks, Live on

Bowen is preparing to go out with a bang, and the upcoming sixth season is set to be our best ever.

Live on Bowen has had an astounding run over the past 5 seasons. Past celebrity guests of the show include Shaun Micallef (Mad as Hell, Talking ‘Bout Your Generation), Claire Hooper (Good News Week, Rove Live) and Peter Hitchener (Channel 9 News). Live on Bowen’s final season will feature brand new celebrity guests, as well as a heap of awesome comedic performers and bands.

Appearing on the sixth season’s premiere will be Melbourne rapper Allday, whose breakthrough song, You Always Know the DJ, appeared at number 35 in last year’s Triple J Hottest 100. Episode two will feature Francis Greenslade, who has appeared in a multitude of comedy programs, as well as his current role in Winners & Losers (Channel 7).
