Former Saved by the Bell star Dustin Diamond has been convicted of two misdemeanours stemming from a brawl in a US bar, last Christmas Day.

Diamond, 38, who played ‘Screech’ was cleared of the most serious felony charge.

The actor testified that he never intended to stab anyone in the fight in Wisconsin.

Diamond said he was trying to scare bar patrons after his girlfriend was punched in the face. Court documents say the victim suffered a half-inch wound with “substantial bleeding” under the arm pit.

He had pleaded not guilty to a felony charge of recklessly endangering public safety, plus two misdemeanours — carrying a concealed weapon and disorderly conduct.

Conviction on all three counts carried a potential sentence of up to 11 years in prison.

Diamond starred as ‘Screech’ on the comedy franchise including Good Morning Miss Bliss, Saved by the Bell: The College Years and Saved by the Bell: The New Class from 1988 to 2000.
