TV adaptation for Robot Overlords

UK indie sci-fi movie Robot Overlords, which starred Ben Kingsley, Gillian Anderson and Aussie Callan McAuliffe (pictured) is getting a TV adaptation.

The film, which follows a group of survivors battling against alien robots who have overtaken the earth, was released in the UK earlier this year but is yet to have an Australian release.

Cineflix-backed indie Buccaneer and Tempo will make a TV series set in a parallel universe to the one featured in the movie.

Bucanner founder Tony Wood said: “I’m thrilled to be working with Piers Tempest and Jon Wright to reimagine Robot Overlords for an international family TV audience. Robot Overlords is a great British sci-fi brand in the tradition of classics such as Quatermass and Dr. Who – packed with special effects and rebellious excitement.”

The title and cast for the spinoff TV series have yet to be announced.

No broadcaster is yet attached.
