Foxtel’s subscriber magazine will be published through Medium Rare Content Agency from September, ending its current contract with Bauer magazines.

Medium Rare is run by its operating partners, Gerry Reynolds and Sally Wright, and is a joint venture with News Corp’s NewsLifeMedia. It will be responsible for both publishing and advertising sales.

Foxtel’s general manager communications Rhonda Dawson said: “Foxtel is home to the best in entertainment from Australia and around the world, and our magazine plays an important role in keeping our loyal customers informed about the wide range of channels and programs, services and ground-breaking broadcasting innovations.

“In Medium Rare we have chosen a partner who will help us evolve our publication in what is a very dynamic media environment.”

Gerry Reynolds, managing director of Medium Rare, said: “We are delighted to be associated with one of Australia’s most progressive media companies. We very much look forward to offering Foxtel’s subscribers a better entertainment experience through inspiring and engaging content, and providing advertisers with opportunities to reach a highly engaged audience.”

  1. Foxtel axed it a few years ago but subscribers demanded it be restored.

As a TV guide it’s fairly useless, since the channels keep changing schedules these days. It is useful for finding out which movies and drama and sport are coming up in the month.

  2. I still get mine.I find it comes in handy when deciding what movies i want to view.Write them down then when i get the movies package on generally over the Summer i know exactly what i want to watch and very handy knowing when a movie is having a final play

    1. As someone who always fast forwards through ads and promos, I want to keep getting the magazine!
I almost missed the new season of The Republic of Doyle, which started tonight on 13THST, but I checked the guide while being bored by the news and saw it was scheduled.
Unfortunately the new season of Strike Back which was supposed to start on Sunday on Fox8 is not on the IQ, but at least I guess we know it’s coming!
I have fond memories of going through the Sunday newspaper TV guide and highlighting the programs on FTA I planned to watch that week. That was years ago when I watched FTA. As in when they actually had things I wanted to watch. Ah, memories…

  3. I look forward to the change. Currently, the guide is condensed and inconsequential to the rubbish articles that surround it. We by the mag for the guide, so I hope they can make that look better than it does now.

    1. I agree. I dearly hope they give some thought to the layout of the actual guide and also the goddamn font size they use. Graphic designers tend to be lovers of white space and tiny print. Here’s a hint: most people who buy print guides are not madly trendy and are also likely to have fading eyesight.

I don’t read the articles any more – they used to have good ones in the area I’m interested in, but they vanished years ago. The guide is always so madly out of date and inaccurate, it drives me mad. (Foxtel has excuses for this which are irrelevant in this day and age when printing is no longer set by hand.) And yet I purchase it! Please improve it, new peeps.
