Meet the all-new Powerpuff Girls: Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup, coming to Cartoon Network in 2016.

The original series, created by Craig McCracken, premiered in 1996 and earned two Emmy Awards across its 78-episode run.

Voicing the girls are Amanda Leighton as Blossom, Kristen Li as Bubbles, Natalie Palamides as Buttercup plus Tom Kenny, reprising his role as the Narrator / Mayor.

However Tara Strong, who played Bubbles in the original series tweeted, “I don’t remember ordering a stab in the heart today” after not being invited to return.

“I have NO ILL FEELINGS 4 the actresses in the new #ppg, We were just beyond hurt we were NEVER asked..every role I breathe life into I love.”

The new series will be executive produced by Nick Jennings (Cartoon Network’s Adventure Time) and Bob Boyle (Wow! Wow! Wubbzy!).

“It has been wonderful to see this new show team bring such passion and positive creative spirit to this iconic property,” said Chief Content Officer, Rob Sorcher. “We know that fans of every age will appreciate this new take on saving the world before bedtime.”
