This week on The Feed reporter Hannah Sinclair investigates the tragedies, inquests, and murky waters of cruise ship regulation; producer Will Read reports on the impact of PETA’s campaign against the wool producers of Australia and Jeannette Francis busts all the myths about how to avoid the flu this year.

Dangerous waters: Inside the troubled cruising industry
Drinking, drugs, gambling and sexual assault are rife on cruise ships – but despite all the bad press, cruising is more popular than ever.

It is an unregulated industry – that operates outside of Australian jurisdiction so Australian law makers hands are tied when it comes to reigning in the cruising industry.

On Monday the findings of an inquest into the deaths of Kristen Schroder and Paul Rossington will be handed down. They died when Kirsten fell off the cruise ship Carnival Spirit in May 2013 and her partner a paramedic jumped in after to save her. The inquest will most likely recommend that man overboard technology is implemented but the question is will this result in real change on board?

Woollen warfare: Shearers vs Animal activists

Last year PETA launched a campaign against the wool producers of Australia claiming systemic abuse throughout the industry. In April this year, they continued the campaign by plastering pictures of a bloody lamb in the arms of a man with the slogan “Here’s The Res of your Wool Coat”.

It prompted outrage from farmers, shearers and wool industry representatives across the nation, many of which saw it as a direct attack on their industry and livelihood. Whilst no wool producers claim that the industry is perfect, wool producers severely condemn the actions of PETA trying to tarnish the industry by spreading what they call, misinformation to the masses.

Is cash soon to be a thing of the past?

Currency as we know it could soon vanish and we may all be using pay pass technology for everything, or could we have chips in our arms? This is already being rolled out in Sweden, the most cash free society on the planet. But how will people make illegal purchases for things like drugs, or pay cash in hand?

Jeannette Francis myth busts flu remedies.

It’s flu season. We hear that quite a bit around this time of year but what if Jeannette Francis uncovers it isn’t?

The Feed asked viewers to tweet through their most trusted cold and flu cures and preventions.

Jan Fran goes on a myth busting mission and discovers perhaps everything anyone ever believed about the cold or flu is maybe… wrong.

Weeknights at 7:30pm on SBS 2.
